“I went to the Mutts & More Festival today and had fun despite the sunny heat. My pawesome friend Kaylee came with me and we left lots of peemail. Then the Shiba Mafia (me, Kimiko and Naomi) pranced around. We tis not foxes or Basenjis and yes we shed *a lot*.”

Today Yuki had her first private 30min lure coursing session and 30min sheep herding session at The Canine Ranch.

I didn’t remember to take a video until the very end of her 30min lure coursing session. By then she was hot and cutting corners, but the instructor said she had good stamina to last the whole session! I was paranoid about Yuki running off so I let her drag a 15ft leash. Yuki was so concentrated on the lure and LOVED it! Definitely don’t need the leash next time.

Sheep herding she did okay at. First she would try to rush the group, pick off a sheep, then attempt to chase it around. Halfway through she started to grasp the bubble space and did pretty well at herding them, unfortunately she also lost interest and started to sniff things around. Great experience and a fun thing to try, but I think we’ll stick with lure.

See the 2 antlers and Terrabone chew in the upper right and how perfectly arranged they are? Yuki did that! All by herself. On her own. One antler was a foot away and the chew was across the room. Probably just a coincidence but still so proud. Now if only she would put her toys back in the boxes when she was done playing… :)

For our anniversary, we had dinner at Kevin Gillespie’s new dim sum style restaurant and it was pretty yummy. I highly recommend Mutts Shelter Stories book for any pet lover, I started to tear up after the first few pages. Also recommend a BoardSmith Butcher Block for anyone who likes cooking.

My very talented friend, Diana, made these awesome beautiful things for our wedding: custom Yuki Thank You cards with our last name initial on Sam Flax thick cotton paper and envelopes with heart printed liners (that we will use forever, not just post wedding) and Shiba couple figurine cake toppers. For our wedding this Fall, we were looking for cute return address labels/stamps that represented us for the massive amounts of save the dates, invitations, and thank you’s we will need to mail out. We found the perfect stamp on Etsy (here). We could choose our own silhouette so of course we chose a Shiba! Myrubberstamp was a pleasure to work with and the stamp turned out PERFECT! (I have to admit, I might have stamped some random pieces of paper already.) So excited to actually start using it and for people to see it, just in case they weren’t aware of our love for Shibas yet. ;)

With the nonstop dreary rain, we took Yuki shopping today (one of her favorite activities). We restocked on a treat, Beams chews, canned food for her dinner kibble topper, and some other chews. I stuffed the cow hoof with cottage cheese and pork and froze it for a snack on another day. She barely touches her elk and deer antler, but loves the ever expensive moose antler. Since she finished her moose antler, she got another one at $18, that she is happily noming away at.

“Humom’s parents have the best yard! It’s all fenced in and look how HUGE it is! Lots of space for zooming and maximum ball throwing. Plus I get to hang out with my 2 meowmie minions. One of them loves me and the other one hates me. See how happy I am playing with the one that loves me? We chase each other and wrestle - she even puts up with me accidentally stomping on her. Good meowmie.”

Salmon For Yuki

“My hoomans bought beautiful wild caught salmon from Whole Foods and after lots of staring from me (go go Shiba mind control!), dad portioned some out to make noms for me.

1. Remove the skin and set aside for later.
2. Debone the fish.
3. Saute the fish with coconut oil.
4. Put on top of my kibble and serve. Me ignoring you and eating is me showing you my gratitude. Savor it.

5. Cut fish skin into whatever size and put on aluminum foil on baking tray.
6. Bake at 200 degrees F for 2-3 hours for drier jerky (or bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes for crispy).
7. Cool and serve to deserving, loving Shiba. (Store extra in fridge. Although, why is there extra? Huff!)

And here’s how dad made the salmon for their dinner. Nom nom nom!”

Do you know someone who needs a little cheer? Inspired by this blog’s “Box of Sunshine” and Pinterest, we made our own to send. I used one of the free printables on that blog and card stock to make the card and had a lot of fun shopping for bright yellow items and crocheting a sun.

Whole Day of Fun With Kimiko

Today, Kimiko spent the whole day with me while her humans picked up her new puppy sisfur. I had SO. MUCH. FUN!! We shocked the humans - we zoomed and hardcore Shiba-style wrestled all day long. We took a 30-minute nap after 5 hours of fun, then passed out later for 1 hour, then back to wrestling!

Look at my crazy eyes! That just shows how much fun we had!

We went for walks together and left pee-mail everywhere.

We wrestled all over the couch.

Took a quick break to refuel.

Mom and dad made us do a kimono photoshoot. Huff! At least there were lots of noms involved.

I got to meet Kimiko’s new puppy sisfur, Naomi. She’s so little and spunky. I hope we will become as good friends as me and Kimiko are.

First Pawalla Box

Last month Barking Deals offered a deal on a 1-month Pawalla Standard Box and a 3-month Pawalla Mini Box Subscription. It sounded fun so we bought both. Today we received our Pawalla Standard Box and we should be receiving our first Mini Box towards the end of this month.

It came with 1 toy, 2 cans of wet food, 3 bags of treats, and a bottle of Grizzly Pollock Oil. We love the oil and toy, but considering we take Yuki shopping every weekend for food/toys/treats and she’s a really picky eater, this box might have been overkill. We’re eagerly looking forward to the Mini Box and think it might fit us better.
